Travelling to Scotland

Scotland has four main International Airports, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Prestwick and Aberdeen. Connections to these Airports are readily available through most UK and European Airports
In addition to Air travel, Rail, Ferry and Coach Services are also available

Travelling in Scotland

Probably the most popular way of getting around Scotland on a Golfing Holiday is by Car.
Numerous Car Hire companies exist and can assist you with your needs
Visitors driving through Scotland should remember that we drive on the Left side of the road

What to Wear

Scotland’s weather varies from coast to coast however Summer temperatures are around 65 – 75 F (18 – 23 C). Waterproofs are always good to have along with a warm sweater and a lightweight coat especially in the evenings

Currency and Credit Cards

The Currency in Scotland is the Great Britain Pound (GBP) In addition most Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Amex) are accepted in Hotels, Shops and Restaurants

The country code for Scotland / UK when phoning from overseas is 00 44 then the area code and number. Always drop the 0 in the area code eg If phoning Glasgow where the area code is 0141 the number to call would be 00 44 141 and the number.

Golfing Requirements

Proper Golfing shoes, a warm pullover, lightweight trousers and a waterproof suit will not go amiss. Golf Clubs dress code is now fairly universal, smart casual golf attire - but jeans and collarless shirts are not allowed. Some Clubs insist on Jacket and Tie.
A Handicap certificate or Letter of introduction from your Club secretary is a worthwhile document to have (some clubs will not allow you to play without one)
Golf Carts, Trolleys, Buggies or Caddies if required should be booked well in advance. Remember that walking is still the most preferred way of playing Golf in Scotland
A round of Golf can vary between 3 and 5 hours, its worthwhile having something to eat and drink in the bag.
